The Alexander County Soil & Water Conservation District is currently accepting bids for the next round of Streamflow Rehabilitation Assistance Program (StRAP) funds. Alexander County has been awarded NC Department of Agriculture StRAP funding to provide services to remove woody debris from select streams in Alexander County. The project generally consists of the removal of woody debris from within the stream corridor and onsite disposal of debris. The work will involve cutting and removing downed trees, broken tops, and woody debris that impede or potentially impede water flow in the streams and tributaries. The selected contractor will be responsible for onsite disposal of the removed debris to include onsite burning or chipping, or where burning or chipping is not feasible, depositing debris in an area and manner which will not significantly impact the flow rate of the floodplain. The selected contractor will not be required to provide off-site disposal of removed debris. This project involves a base bid for one site, as well as two alternate bids for two additional sites for which bidders may opt to submit alternate bids. The deadline is February 27 at 4:00 p.m. Access the online portal for complete details.
