Alexander County Government is pleased to announce the promotion of Keri Jerrell to serve as the Director of the Department of Social Services, effective May 27.
Jerrell has worked for Alexander County DSS for 5+ years, serving as Program Manager for Adult Protective Services and Child Protective Services since April 2020. Before working for Alexander County DSS, she was a Family In-Home Intervention Social Worker in Mecklenburg County. In total, Jerrell has worked in the social services field for more than 18 years, preceded by years of service in mental health and public health.
“I am deeply honored to be promoted to DSS Director for Alexander County, and will strive to serve our citizens to the best of my ability,” said Jerrell. “With a strong commitment to excellence, I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff to ensure the needs of our clients are being met.”
Jerrell earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC, and her master’s degree in counseling from Webster University in Charleston, SC.
She and her husband, Alfred, have been married for 16 years. They have two children, Christopher and Laila. In addition to spending time with her family, Jerrell enjoys shopping, traveling, and reading.
The public is invited to a “meet and greet” on Thursday, May 30 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the DSS conference room.
