The Alexander County Board of Elections met during a public meeting on Thursday, November 16, 2023, and unanimously passed a resolution to move Gwaltney 1-2 election day voting place from the Gwaltney Community Building to the Hiddenite Fire Department Station #2, located at 4472 Cheatham Ford Road. The Gwaltney Community building, which has served as the election day voting site since 2016, is scheduled to close at the end of December 2023.
“We are grateful for Hiddenite Fire Department in allowing their facilities to serve the voters of their community and Alexander County,” stated Patrick Wike, Elections Director. “Hiddenite Fire Station #2 will be a great asset for election day voters in upcoming elections.”
The next countywide election will be the statewide primary on Tuesday, March 5, 2024.
The Alexander County Board of Elections will be mailing a notice to all voters assigned to the Gwaltney 1-2 precinct advising them of their new election day voting place. As a reminder, voters who wait until election day to vote must go to their assigned precinct voting place. This precinct assignment is based on residential address. Voters can always verify their registration information and see their assigned election day voting place online by using the voter search tool on the NC State Board of Elections website at https://vt.ncsbe.gov.
