Alexander County is working to expand public water service to better serve our citizens and businesses. Municipal water service is not currently available in all areas of Alexander County but is being expanded as funding allows. Below, you will find a series of maps detailing the areas which will be served by the current water line expansion project. This project generally consists of the installation of approximately 70,690 linear feet of new 2-inch through 8-inch potable water lines, offering up to 295 new service connections in eight (8) different areas of Alexander County.
If you currently do not have municipal water service available to your home or business, but you are interested in connecting and you are located along an existing or proposed water line as shown on the map below, you may visit https://www.hickorync.gov/content/collections for information about how to connect. Alexander County is currently offering all new customers a discounted connection fee through the current rebate program which expires December 31, 2020. All new customers along the current expansion project are also eligible for a free water tap (customer still pays capacity fee). See the rates table below or visit the link above for more information.
