Alexander County is working to expand public water service to better serve our citizens and businesses. Public water service is not currently available in all areas of Alexander County, but is being expanded as funding allows. These expansion efforts are currently continuing through an appropriation of federal funds awarded to Alexander County as part of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Alexander County is currently working with an engineering firm to develop plans for additional water lines and will share information regarding those areas once the project design is complete.
If you currently do not have public water service for your home or business, but you are interested in connecting and your property adjoins an existing water line, you may visit https://www.hickorync.gov/billing-collectionscustomer-service for information about how to connect, current tap fees, water rates, and other information. In order to encourage citizens to connect to public water utility service, Alexander County is currently offering a rebate which reduces the water tap fee paid for new connections.
