The County Manager’s Administration Office includes a staff of the County Manager, the Clerk to the Board, and the Administrative Assistant to the County Manager, and the Administration Office Assistant.
The Alexander County Manager is Rick French, has served as manager since April 1999. The Board of Commissioners designates a County Manager to serve as the head administrator to all departments under the Board’s authority. The County Manager’s duties include supervision of all county departments, boards, agencies, and all activities performed by each including budget expenditures; preparation of the annual county budget; and supervision of all County officers and any other duties as required by the County Commissioners. The County Manager consults with the County Attorney on a regular basis and keeps the County Commissioners informed of all aspects of county government and issues at hand.
Clerk to the Board
The Clerk to the Board’s duties include documenting and preparing minutes for the monthly Commissioner’s Meetings, as well as other scheduled meetings that the County Commissioners are in attendance. The Clerk to the Board also maintains appointments for county boards and committees, maintains the minutes and agendas on the county web page, maintains county ordinance books, assists the County Manager in daily procedures, and performs other activities directly related to actions of the County Commissioners.
Administrative Assistant to the County Manager
The Administrative Assistant’s duties include preparing agendas and agenda packets for the monthly Commissioner’s Meetings, preparing the necessary resolutions and proclamations for the meeting, and assisting the County Manager in daily procedures.
Administration Office Assistant
The Office Assistant’s duties include greeting and assisting the public, answering incoming phone calls, and scheduling necessary meetings. The office assistant provides clerical assistance to the County Manager and also assists in daily procedures.
