“Sample ballots are an essential election study guide for informed voters,” stated Patrick Wike, Alexander County Elections Director. “Sample ballots allow voters to research all the contests and candidates that will be on their ballot prior to arriving at the voting place.”
In the March 5th primary election, voters will select nominees for a political party to move on to the November 5th general election.
Voters affiliated with a political party will be given a ballot of candidates for their political party.
• A registered Democrat may only vote the Democratic Party Primary ballot.
• A registered Libertarian may only vote the Libertarian Party Primary ballot.
• A registered Republican may only vote the Republican Party Primary ballot.
Unaffiliated voters may choose the ballot of any party that has a primary election.
Voters can verify their political party affiliation online via the NC State Board of Elections voter search tool at https://vt.ncsbe.gov.
The deadline for existing voters to change their party affiliation is Friday, February 9.
