Position: Park Maintenance Technician
Salary Range: $22,318 – $31,515 Grade: 59

Description of Work: An employee in this class performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks involving general maintenance of parks, landscape, vehicles, equipment, and facilities/buildings located in the park. Work also includes operating push and tractor mowers to cut grass, trimming and other horticultural tasks including hiking long distances over uneven terrain while carrying equipment, cleaning grounds and facilities, setting up rooms for meetings and special events, as well as a variety of related technical tasks. Some judgment and initiative in the repair of equipment and related facilities and equipment operation is required. Employees must be able to perform manual labor, as well as semi-skilled duties, and abide by safety rules and regulations. Work subjects the employee to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise, vibration, hazards associated with parks maintenance work, fumes, odors, dust, mists and oils. Duties involving equipment operation may result in exposure to human body fluids and thus the work is subject to the OSHA requirements on blood-borne pathogens. Work is performed under general supervision of the Park Ranger and is evaluated through observation of facilities and performance of duties.
Education and Experience: Graduation from high school and one year of experience in grounds and/or facility maintenance including equipment operations and minor trades work or; an equivalent combination of educations and experience. Must have a valid NC driver’s license.
