In an effort to provide quality and efficient customer service to the citizens of Taylorsville and Alexander County, the Taylorsville Town Council and Alexander County Commissioners have agreed to combine Planning, Development and Zoning services. The result is that the Town and County will have one unified Zoning Ordinance.
The Alexander County Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on June 1st, 2017 at 7pm in room 103 of the CVCC/Alexander Center to discuss and make a recommendation on the proposed ordinance.
The new Alexander County/Town of Taylorsville Zoning Ordinance, which will be administered and enforced by the Alexander County Planning and Development Department, will help facilitate growth and economic development in the entire county. The new ordinance will not change the existing zoning of any residential property within the town or county limits.
The zoning classification changes are as follows:
• All property in the Town of Taylorsville’s jurisdiction including the ETJ currently zoned B-4 (Highway Business) will be rezoned to the County designation of H-C (Highway Commercial).
• All property in the Town of Taylorsville’s jurisdiction including the ETJ currently zoned M-1 (Light Industrial) will be rezoned to the County designation of L-I (Light Industrial)
• All property in the Town of Taylorsville’s jurisdiction including the ETJ currently zoned M-2 (Heavy Industrial) will be rezoned to the County designation of H-I (Heavy Industrial)
• Each of these zoning changes will have no impact on existing or future buildings and/or land development on any properties that are affected.
