POSITION: Heavy Equipment Operator – Part Time
SALARY RANGE: $12.44/hour
POSTING DATES: May 9, 2018 – Until Filled (First review on May 16, 2018)
Description of Work: Employee’s main responsibility will be operating an articulating loader in the transfer station. Employee is responsible for operating heavy solid waste equipment in the landfill and/or in transfer station. May operate equipment in grading, ditching and construction or maintenance of dirt roads and sediment basins at the landfill. Responsible for observing waste being dumped for proper materials, separates out materials not allowed and explains proper access and use of the landfill to the public. Judges when trailer is full. Moves trailer into holding area and positions new trailer for loading solid waste using articulating loader on concrete floor. Performs preventive maintenance and makes minor adjustments to heavy equipment. Cleans facility, washes concrete dumping area and cleans area outside around facility roads and loading bay. Hours will include weekends and holidays.
Education and Experience: Must have High School diploma or GED and valid North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License. Must be able to operate articulating loader. Experience in handling occupational hazards and proper safety precautions and experience working with the public a preferred. Must be able to sit on a continuous basis while operating equipment.
