Alexander County Emergency Services has issued a flood update regarding roads in Alexander County.
Portions of the following roads are compromised by the recent flooding: Rink Dam Road, Dover Church Road, Herman Road, Blair Road, Liledoun Road, Icard Ridge Road, Heritage Farm Road, and Willie McLeod Road.
Please pay attention to caution and/or detour signs, and exercise caution when traveling these roadways. Work is underway on some of these problems, but motorists should expect several weeks before the major problems are repaired. Remember, never drive around or move a barricade.
Emergency Services staff is working to complete 41 site visits, primarily for washed-out driveways and culverts. The North Carolina Forestry Service’s bridge crew was working on a second footbridge on Tuesday, June 11, with plans to construct a third footbridge on June 12.
It is estimated that five or six residences have significant water and mud damage from the flood incident.
