Position Description:
An employee in this class is responsible for the administrative and technical needs of the division. Performs administrative, supervisory, and day-to-day operations of the Income Maintenance, Adult Protective Services, and Child Support divisions. The employee must plan and organize the workflow to ensure goals are met. The employee should conduct staff meetings and individual conferences with supervisors, evaluate and recommend any actions, and monitors hours worked. The Administrator also works directly with other management team members, including the Director, in planning, budgeting, community planning, and community relations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Social Services Director.
Responsibilities:
• Supervises staff by prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring training and making personnel related recommendations.
• Reviews and disseminates information contained in policy updates, analyzes impact on policy, and develops plan for implementing change.
• Troubleshoots and facilitates staffing around client related issues.
• Monitors funding availability for specific services, collaborates with agencies.
• Represents the department on various committees and work groups within the County government and with outside agencies.
• Provides information regarding department activities to various County agencies.
• Assists with the preparation of the department budget by assessing current workload requirements and anticipated program changes.
• Ensures staff has the resources and training necessary for all programs.
• Serves as supervisor to E&E workers.
• Engages in enrollment and eligibility of Medicaid activities including intake, acceptance, eligibility determination, output, case maintenance, and customer service.
• In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations is expected. Employee is required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during, and after the emergency. Employee is also required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
Qualifications:
• Master’s degree from an accredited school in a human services discipline and four years of experience in a human services field including two years in a supervisory capacity;
• A Bachelor’s degree in a human services discipline and six years of experience in a human services field including three years in a supervisory capacity; or
• An equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must possess a valid NC driver’s license.
