Position:Deputy Clerk of Elections – Part-Time No Benefits

An employee in this class serves as support to the Elections Director and is responsible for answering the telephone, taking and receiving messages, and greeting the public. Duties include processing voter registration cards, assisting with the preparation for elections, and providing general clerical support to the Board of Elections, as needed. Work requires that the employee exercise sound judgment in working with the public and providing them with the proper information. Work procedures are well established and generally are readily available. Work is performed under the supervision of the Elections Director and is evaluated through conferences, observation, and review of and work generated.
• Graduation from high school.
• Valid NC driver’s license.
• Demonstrated public contact, computer skills and clerical abilities are required.
• Knowledge of election laws, along with policies and procedures of the election process, is preferred.
• Must be NC Notary or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of employment.
• Any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
