ALEXANDER COUNTY, NC (December 5, 2019) — The Alexander County Department of Social Services would like to inform the community that applications for Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) began on December 2, 2019, and will run through December 31, 2019, for households containing an elderly person age 60 and above, OR a disabled person receiving services through the Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS).
Energy payments will be paid directly to the heating provider. Households must make an application for LIEAP Assistance. Verification of income is now required for participation in the program. Individuals who have earned income will need to provide their prior month check stubs.
If funds are still available, applications will be taken starting January 2 through March 31, 2020, for all other households.
Disabled persons are defined as receiving SSI, SSA, or VA disability.
