Position: 50% Human Resource Aide and 50% Nutrition Site

Salary Range: Grade 54 $17,870.70 – $25,250.83

Description of Work: The Human Resource Aide provides care and assistance to individuals who are unable to carry out instrumental activities of daily living (IADL’s). These include running errands, preparing meals, cleaning and caring for the home, and cleaning and caring for clothing and linens. Worker is also to provide companionship and emotional support to the client. Such tasks are performed to allow an individual to remain at home and defer or prevent institutionalization. The nutrition site manager will supervise volunteers in the preparation of serving meals; maintaining clerical records; checking inventories for food and supplies; coordinating volunteer participation, planning and coordinating recreational activities, contacting participants and arranging transportation; and performing related work, as required, at congregate meal sites. The human resource aide and nutrition site manager must complete all IADL’s tasks, ensure all forms are completed, and have communication with direct supervisor as needs arise. Ensure that HCCBG funding is spent each year according to budget.
Routine of work is basically the same on a daily basis but it does take creativity to come up with a variety of educational programs or entertainment for the participants on an ongoing basis at the nutrition site. Work with elderly/disabled clientele requires patience, diligence, competence, and can involve explaining schedules and programs to clients repeatedly, as well as mediating with relatives of clients.
Education and Experience: Graduation from High School or GED equivalent. Possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license with a good driving record. Have the ability to complete handwritten tests from audio and video tapes; follow written and oral instructions and maintain written records. Must be able to relate to clientele served, primarily the elderly and disabled.
